Nay, and by the moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 About Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, disbelievers, etc.), (And they will say to them): 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
