۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 Abraham asked his father and his people, "What are these statues which you worship?" 52 They answered: "We found our forefathers worshipping them." 53 He said: Certainly you have been, (both) you and your fathers, in manifest error. 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said, 'Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who originated them, and I am one of those that bear witness thereunto. 56 And, by God, I shall assuredly outwit your idols, after you have gone away turning your backs.' 57 So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question]. 58 (When they saw the idols in this state) they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Surely he is one of the wrong-doers." 59 Some among them said, “We heard a youth speak ill of them – the one called Ibrahim.” 60 They said: bring him then before the eyes of the people, haply they may bear witness. 61 They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He answered: "Nay, it was this one, the biggest of them, that did it: but ask them [yourselves] - provided they can speak!" 63 Then they thought and observed: "Surely you are yourselves unjust." 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 Abraham said, "So, do you worship something instead of God that can neither benefit you nor harm you? 66 Woe to you for what you worship instead of God. Have you no understanding?" 67 They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act." 68 We said, “O fire, become cool and peaceful upon Ibrahim.” 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge, and saved him from a people who acted villainously and were certainly wicked and disobedient. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
