But the leaders of his people who denied the truth and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, because We had granted them ease and plenty in their worldly life, said, "This is only a human being like yourselves, he eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink, 33 “If you were to obey a human like yourselves, then surely you are losers!” 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which ye are promised! 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 [Whereupon the prophet] would say: "O my Sustainer! Succour me against their accusation of lying!" 39 He replied: 'Before long, by the morning, they shall be remorseful' 40 Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk! 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 Unto Fir'awn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting. 46 They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?" 47 So they denied them – therefore became of those who were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs. 50
