And when Abraham said to his father and his people, 'Surely I am quit of that you serve, 26 Save Him Who did create me, for He will surely guide me. 27 And Abraham left behind this word to endure among his posterity so that they may return to it. 28 Nay! I gave them and their fathers to enjoy until there came to them the truth and an Apostle making manifest (the truth). 29 And when the truth came to them, they said, 'This is a sorcery, and in it we are unbelievers.' 30 And they said, "Why was this Qur'an not sent down upon a great man from [one of] the two cities?" 31 Is it they who distribute the Mercy of your Lord? It is We Who have distributed their livelihood among them in the life of this world, and have raised some above others in rank that some of them may harness others to their service. Your Lord's Mercy is better than all the treasures that they hoard. 32 And were it not that mankind would have become one community, We should make for those who disbelieve in the Compassionate roofs of silver for their houses and silver stairways whereby they ascend. 33 And for their houses - doors and couches [of silver] upon which to recline 34 And gold ornament. But all that is not but the enjoyment of worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous. 35
