Thamood cried lies to the warnings 23 So they said, “What! Shall we follow a man from among us? If we do, we are indeed astray, and insane!” 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 (To him We said): 'Tomorrow they shall know who is the arrogant liar. 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they call their comrade and he took and hamstrung (her). 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment. 38 Now taste My punishment after My warnings! 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40
