And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 and from the Pharaoh. He was the chief of the transgressors. 31 And We certainly chose them by knowledge over [all] the worlds. 32 And We vouchsafed unto them signs wherein was a manifest favour. 33 Indeed, these [disbelievers] are saying, 34 there is nothing beyond our first death; we shall not be raised again. 35 "Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!" 36 Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, out of play. 38 We have created them for a genuine purpose, but most people do not know. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped, 41 Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
