Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a lofty Garden – 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
