The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
A doubter once demanded that punishment be immediately meted out, 1 (a chastisement meant) for the unbelievers, one which none can avert; 2 From Allah, the Lord of the ways of ascent. 3 On that Day (of Judgment), long as fifty thousand years, the angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him. 4 Therefore be patient, with a beautiful patience; 5 Lo! they behold it afar off 6 And We behold it nigh. 7 It shall befall on a Day whereon the sky will become like molten brass, 8 And the hills become as flakes of wool, 9 and no friend will ask about his friend, 10 Though they shall be made to see one another [(i.e. on the Day of Resurrection), there will be none but see his father, children and relatives, but he will neither speak to them nor will ask them for any help)], - the Mujrim, (criminal, sinner, disbeliever, etc.) would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by his children. 11 His wife and his brother, 12 And his kin that harboured him 13 and all the people of the earth, if that could deliver him. 14 Nay, verily it is a furnace 15 Plucking out (his being) right to the skull!- 16 It calleth him who turned and fled (from truth), 17 And masseth and then hoardeth. 18 ۞ Verily man is impatient by nature: 19 When evil touches him, impatient, 20 but when good comes upon him, he is grudging 21 Except those who establish prayer. 22 Who are constant at their worship 23 And in whose wealth there is a right acknowledged 24 For him who begs and for him who is denied (good) 25 And those who believe in the Day of Judgement, 26 and who stand in dread of their Sustainer's chastisement 27 Verily! The torment of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure, 28 And those who protect their private organs (from adultery). 29 Save with their wives and those whom their right hands possess, for thus they are not blameworthy; 30 but whoever goes beyond this is a transgressor; 31 And those who protect the property entrusted to them, and their agreements. 32 And those who stand by their testimony 33 And those who guard their Salat (prayers) well. 34 Those are highly honored in the Gardens. 35

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
