The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
