And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin, 31 and indeed, We chose them knowingly above all other people, 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 [Now,] behold, these [people] say indeed: 34 "After we die, we shall never be raised to life again. 35 Bring back to life our fathers if what you say is true". 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba' and those before them whom We destroyed? They were surely sinners. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 The Day of Judgement is your promised day of meeting, 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to his friend, and when none shall be succoured 41 except those to whom Allah shows mercy. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 42
