The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and serried acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virginal, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
