Nay, and by the moon, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 A warning to mortals, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 who will be in Paradise 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 until death approached us". 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
