The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
