O YOU APOSTLES! Partake of the good things of life, and do righteous deeds: verily, I have full knowledge of all that you do. 51 This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear. 52 But they (mankind) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its tenets. 53 So leave thou them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Think they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We provide them 55 We are hastening them on to good things? Aye! they perceive not. 56 Surely those who live in awe of their Lord, 57 who believe in the verses of their Lord; 58 who associate none with their Lord, 59 And those who give that which they give with hearts afraid because they are about to return unto their Lord, 60 those vie in good works, outracing to them. 61 And we task not any soul beyond its scope, and with Us is a Record which speaketh the truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 On the contrary, their hearts are in neglect of this and their works are different than those of the believers, the works that they are doing. 63 Until when We lay hold of the luxuriant ones of them with the torment, and lo! then they are imploring! 64 Implore not today; verily ye from Us are not to be succoured. 65 My Signs were rehearsed to you and you turned back on your heels and took to flight, 66 "In arrogance: talking nonsense about the (Qur'an), like one telling fables by night." 67 Have they, then, never tried to understand this word [of God]? Or has there [now] come to them something that never came to their forefathers of old? 68 Or did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging? 69 Or do they say: There is madness in him? Nay! he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse from the truth. 70 If truth had followed their whims and desires, heavens and earth and all that lives in them would have been brought to ruin. Rather We have brought them their Reminder. Yet they keep avoiding their Reminder. 71 Or, do you ask a tribute from them? Your Lord's tribute is better. He is the Best of providers. 72 Assuredly thou art calling them to a straight path; 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are from the path deviating. 74 ۞ Did We have mercy on them, and remove the affliction that is upon them, they would persist in their insolence wandering blindly. 75 And indeed We seized them with punishment, but they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor did they invoke (Allah) with submission to Him. 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of extreme punishment, behold! they are aghast thereat. 77
