Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
