And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
