S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation! 1 But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility. 2 How many ancient generations did We destroy? (On facing Our torment) they cried out for help, but it was too late for them to escape. 3 And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say: This is an enchanter, a liar. 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a wondrous thing' 5 Their leaders departed, saying, "Walk away! Hold fast to your deities. This is clearly a conspiracy. 6 We heard not thereof in the later faith; this is naught but an invention. 7 Has the message been revealed to him out of [all of] us?" Rather, they are in doubt about My message. Rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your, (Muhammad's), Lord, the Majestic and Munificent God? 9 Or, is theirs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them? Then let them ascend by (their) means! 10 [They are but] soldiers [who will be] defeated there among the companies [of disbelievers]. 11 Before them the people of Noah, Ad, and Pharaoh of the tent-pegs gave the lie (to the Messengers) 12 And Samood and the people of Lut and the dwellers of the thicket; these were the parties. 13 There was not one of those that did not belie the Messengers. Therefore, My retribution was realized. 14
