We gave the Book to Moses, but there were disputes about it, and had it not been for a Word that preceded from your Lord (their disputes) would have been decided between them. But they are in disquieting doubt about it. 45 Whoso doeth right it is for his soul, and whoso doeth wrong it is against it. And thy Lord is not at all a tyrant to His slaves. 46 ۞ Unto Him is remitted the knowledge of the Hour. And not a fruit cometh forth from the knops thereof; neither doth a female bear or bring forth but with His knowledge. And on the Day whereon He will call unto them: where are my associates? they will say: we protest unto Thee, none of us is a witness thereof. 47 Those they used to call upon before will go away from them, and they shall think that they have no asylum. 48 Man never tires of praying for good; but if evil assails him he begins to despair. 49 And if We give him a taste of mercy from Us after his affliction has befallen him, he is sure to say: 'This is my own. I do not think the Hour will ever come. And even if I am returned to my Lord, with Him there is for me the finest reward (Paradise)' Then, We shall tell the unbelievers what they did and let them taste a harsh punishment. 50 When We grant a blessing to a man, he turns away and draws aside, but when any evil touches him, he is full of endless prayers! 51 Say: Tell me if it is from Allah; then you disbelieve in it, who is in greater error than he who is in a prolonged opposition? 52 We will show Our signs to them in the horizons of the external world and within themselves, until it becomes clear to them that it's the truth. Is your Lord not sufficient? He is a witness over all things. 53 In truth they are in doubt that they will ever face their Lord. Do they not know that He surrounds all things? 54
