The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 purify your garments; 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
