And assuredly We have created human being from ringing clay of loam moulded. 26 whereas the invisible beings We had created, [long] before that, out of the fire of scorching winds. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 When I have formed him and breathed My spirit into him, fall down in prostration before him," 29 All the angels prostrated before Adam 30 But Satan did not; he refused to join those who prostrated themselves. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 Said he, 'I would never bow myself before a mortal whom Thou hast created of a clay of mud moulded.' 33 (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] 34 and the curse shall be on you till the Day of Judgement!" 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 (Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee 37 "Till the Day of the time appointed." 38 He said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 God said, "The path which leads to Me is a straight 41 Over My true servants you will be able to exercise no power, your power will be confined to the erring ones, those who choose to follow you. 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 It has seven gates; for every gate there shall be a separate party of them. 44
