۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these idols to which you cling so passionately?" 52 They answered: "We found our forefathers worshipping them." 53 He said, “Indeed you all – you and your forefathers – were in open error.” 54 They said: Have you brought to us the truth, or are you one of the triflers? 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 Abraham said to himself, "By God! I will devise a plan against their idols when they are away." 57 He broke all the idols into pieces, except the biggest among them so that perhaps people would refer to it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 Some among them said, “We heard a youth speak ill of them – the one called Ibrahim.” 60 They said: bring him then before the eyes of the people, haply they may bear witness. 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 He said, "Do you, instead of God, worship things that can neither harm nor benefit you?" 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said, "Burn him to ashes if you want to help your gods". 68 We said to the fire, "Be cool and peaceful (with Abraham)". 69 They sought to outwit him, but We made them the worst of losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya'qub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 And Lut! We vouchsafed unto him judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him out of the city which had been working foul deeds; verily they were a people evil, wicked. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous. 75
