Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 The Faithful Spirit has descended with it, 193 Upon your heart (O Muhammad SAW) that you may be (one) of the warners, 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 And verily, it (the Quran, and its revelation to Prophet Muhammad SAW) is (announced) in the Scriptures [i.e. the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] of former people. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 And if We had revealed it (this Quran) unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 Think! If We let them enjoy life for some years, 205 Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! 206 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? 207 And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners 208 to admonish them. We have never been unjust. 209 It was not the devils who brought down the Quran: 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 So call thou not upon another god with God, lest thou shouldst be one of those that are chastised. 213 And warn your near relations, 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 who sees thee when thou standest [alone,] 218 and when you turn among those who prostrate themselves. 219 He is All-hearing and All-knowing." 220 O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? 221 They descend upon all sinful self-deceivers 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them: 224 Do you not see that they wander about in every valley 225 And that they say what they do not do? - 226 Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take. 227
