The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 arise and warn, 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire. We have specified their number only as a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth, so that those who were given the Book might gain in certainty, and those who believe might increase in faith -- and so that neither those who have been given the Scripture nor the believers might have any doubts, and that those sick at heart and those who deny the truth might ask, "What does God mean by this parable?" In this way, God lets go astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. And none knows the forces of your Lord but He. This is but a Reminder for man. 31
