NAY, but consider the moon! 32 by the retreating night, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 a warning to mortal man 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 about the sinners. 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
