The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is overthrown, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 The closing night, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
