The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
