In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 by the Promised Day, 2 And by oath of the day that is a witness and by oath of a day in which the people present themselves. 3 slain were the Men of the Pit, 4 Full of fire fed by faggots, 5 When they sat by it 6 and were themselves witnesses of what they did with the believers. 7 They took revenge on them only because they believed in the All-mighty, the Al-laudable, 8 Whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is a Witness of all things. 9 Surely for those who persecute believers, men and women, and do not repent afterwards, is the punishment of Hell, and the punishment of burning. 10 For those who believe and do righteous deeds, will be Gardens; beneath which rivers flow: That is the great Salvation, (the fulfilment of all desires), 11 The vengeance of God is terribly severe. 12 He it is Who creates for the first time and He it is Who will create again, 13 He is the forgiving and the loving, 14 – the Lord of the Glorious Throne, 15 Doer (without let) of all that He intends. 16 Hast thou received the story of the hosts, 17 Of Firon and Samood? 18 Yet the infidels persist in denial. 19 But Allah doth encompass them from behind! 20 Indeed, this is a Glorious Koran, 21 upon an imperishable tablet [inscribed]. 22
