Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
