The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
