When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them – and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
