And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 no caring friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
