Truly, it is the sending of the Lord of the Worlds. 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 It has been revealed in plain Arabic. 195 Its news was also mentioned in the ancient Books. 196 And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel? 197 And had We sent it down upon a person other than an Arab, 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 They will not believe in it till they behold the painful doom, 201 So it will come upon them suddenly, whilst they will be unaware. 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 So for Our punishment are they impatient? 204 Just think: If We let them enjoy (the good things of life) for a few years more, 205 and then what they were promised comes to them, 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners 208 as a reminder from Us: We are never unjust. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 indeed they are debarred from overhearing it. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 And warn thy tribe of near kindred, 214 And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers. 215 Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!" 216 And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 And watches your movements among those who prostrate in prayer. 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Should I tell you on whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 and say things which they do not act upon, 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
