The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
