He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And he feareth 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
