The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
