The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 he was created of gushing water 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And no trifle. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
