And when We said to the angels: Make obeisance to Adam, they made obeisance, but Iblis (did it not); he refused. 116 So We said, "O Adam, indeed this is an enemy to you and to your wife. Then let him not remove you from Paradise so you would suffer. 117 Surely it is (ordained) for you that you shall not be hungry therein nor bare of clothing; 118 you shall not thirst, nor feel the sun's heat." 119 But satan whispered to him saying: 'Adam, shall I direct you the Tree of Eternity and a kingdom which never decays' 120 Then they both ate of it, so their evil inclinations became manifest to them, and they both began to cover themselves with leaves of the garden, and Adam disobeyed his Lord, so his life became evil (to him). 121 But afterwards his Lord chose him; He turned again towards him and guided him. 122 'Both of you, together, go down out of it (the Garden) each of you an enemy to the other' He said: 'but, if My Guidance comes to you, whosoever follows My Guidance shall neither go astray nor be unprosperous; 123 but whosoever turns away from My remembrance, his life shall be narrow and on the Day of Resurrection We shall raise him blind' 124 He will say, “O my Lord, why have You raised me blind, whereas I was sighted?” 125 (Allah) will say: "Thus didst Thou, when Our Signs came unto thee, disregard them: so wilt thou, this day, be disregarded." 126 And thus do We recompense him who transgresses beyond bounds and believes not in the Signs of his Lord: and the Penalty of the Hereafter is far more grievous and more enduring. 127 Is it not a guidance for them (to know) how many a generation We destroyed before them, amid whose dwellings they walk? Lo! therein verily are signs for men of thought. 128
