And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 You and your fathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
