Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 By this luminous Book. 2 verily We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you may understand. 3 And the Qur’an is undoubtedly, in the Original Book with Us, surely the exalted, full of wisdom. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 Many a prophet had We sent to the earlier communities, 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 so We destroyed men stronger in valour than they, and the example of the ancients passed away. 8 If you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?", they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All Knowing One has created them." 9 (Yea, the same that) has made for you the earth (like a carpet) spread out, and has made for you roads (and channels) therein, in order that ye may find guidance (on the way); 10 He Who sent down water from the sky in a determined measure, and thereby We revived a dead land: likewise will you be raised up (from the earth) -- 11 And He it is who has created all opposites. And He [it is who] has provided for you all those ships and animals whereon you ride, 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 And surely to our Lord we must return. 14 Yet they make some of His servants partners in His divinity. Man is clearly ungrateful! 15
