The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
