۞ And certainly We gave to Ibrahim his rectitude before, and We knew him fully well. 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: Certainly you have been, (both) you and your fathers, in manifest error. 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He said, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. It was He who created them and I testify to this fact". 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 [When they saw what had happened,] they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Verily, one of the worst wrongdoers is he!" 59 They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. 60 They said, 'Bring him before the people's eyes; haply they shall bear witness.' 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 He said: rather he hath wrought it, this big one of them; so question them, if they ever speak. 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 Shame on you and on that you worship other than Allah! Have you no understanding' 67 They said: burn him, and succour your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We said, “O fire, become cool and peaceful upon Ibrahim.” 69 And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac, and Jacob as an additional gift, and made them righteous. 72 and made them leaders who would guide [others] in accordance with Our behest: for We inspired them [with a will] to do good works, and to be constant in prayer, and to dispense charity: and Us [alone] did they worship. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge, and saved him from a people who acted villainously and were certainly wicked and disobedient. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
