Have you seen him who turns his back, 33 And gave a little, then stopped (giving)? 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 He will certainly see the result of his labor 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 And that it is He Who gave death and gave life? 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 From seed when it is emitted. 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people), 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The approaching event has come near. 57 and none but Allah can avert it. 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
