The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He has created man: 3 and He taught him speech. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 And the herbs and the trees do obeisance. 6 And the heaven! He hath elevated it, and He hath set the balance. 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 Wherein are fruit and sheathed palm-trees, 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery, 14 And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 23 His are the high-sailed vessels in deep ocean like the mountains. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
