And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, 10 “The nation of Firaun; will they not fear?” 11 He said: my Lord! verily I fear they shall belie me. 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 As for me, they hold the charge of a crime against me. I fear they will put me to death." 14 He said: 'Never so, go both of you with Our signs; We shall be with you, listening 15 They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Universe. 16 ‘That you let the Descendants of Israel go with us.’” 17 Pharaoh said to Moses, "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you spent several years of your life with us. 18 And thou didst the deed thou didst, being one of the ungrateful!' 19 Replied [Moses]: "I committed it while I was still going astray; 20 So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. 21 That is a blessing thou reproachest me with, having enslaved the Children of Israel.' 22 Fir'awn said: and what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 He said, 'The Lord of the heavens and earth, and what between them is, if you have faith.' 24 Said he to those about him, 'Do you not hear?' 25 Musa (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers!" 26 Said he: Most surely your Apostle who is sent to you is mad. 27 Moses continued: "(He is) the Lord of the east and the west, and all between them. If you only had any understanding!" 28 [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned." 29 Musa (Moses) said: "Even if I bring you something manifest (and convincing)?" 30 The Pharaoh replied, "Bring it, if you are telling the truth." 31 Thereupon [Moses] threw down his staff - and lo! it was a serpent, plainly visible; 32 And he drew forth his hand and lo! it was white to the beholders. 33
