The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
