The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
