Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The true event! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 and no food except pus 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
