Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by this city, Makkah - 1 this land in which thou art free to dwell 2 And by the begetter and that which he begat, 3 Verily, We have created man in toil. 4 Does he think then that no one has power over him? 5 He will say: 'I have destroyed a vast wealth' 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? 8 One tongue, and two lips, 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 Yet he has not assaulted the steep; 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 It is the freeing of a slave; 13 or giving food upon a day of hunger 14 An orphan of near relationship 15 Or of a homeless needy person! 16 And to be of those who believe, and urge upon one another to persevere, and urge upon each other to be kind. 17 Their place will be on the right hand. 18 But those who disbelieved in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they are those on the Left Hand (the dwellers of Hell). 19 [with] fire closing in upon them. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
