Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. 4 Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, 5 He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 on that Day will man say: “Whither the refuge?” 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And leave (neglect) the Hereafter. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 No indeed; when it reaches the clavicles 26 and it is said: “Is there any enchanter who can step forward and help (by his chanting)?” 27 And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
