Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
